Faded Layers and Embossing

Over at CC3C the latest challenge is to use Faded Layers from Tim Holtz's latest book. The technique is on page 58. I have used the sun rays stencil. The latest challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie boutique.

I have created this passport style card. I have seen a few people do this, but my inspiration came from Emma Williams - here is the link to her post. The base of the card is kraft card - all inked up with black soot. I have then added layers to the outside and the inside of this base card.

I used the Faded layers technique for 2 of the three pages - the second page is similar but no stencil involved. I stamped a number of images in versamark and embossed with black embossing powder.
The inside pages are embossed with folders, remnant rubs added and inked up a bit!

Some leftover sections of the faded layer card was stamped and punched into butterflies to add some dimension! Seam binding coloured with Distress stains and stamped with text completes my project, which, for nearly the first time, I remembered to add before my matting so it is actually secured to my card!

Inside page 2
I would also like to enter into:
That's Crafty - Stamping Ground (all images stamped and embossed)
EPlay Challenge - Embossing (Black images embosssed with embossing powder and inside pages use embossing folders)

Hope, Love and Dream

Over at A Vintage Journey today is my turn to share a little inspiration and I have chosen to share on the use of Foil Tape sheets. Do hop over for lots of piccies and a long post!

I thought I would just quickly share a little project using foil here today too. This small wall hanging is made from a chipboard coaster which I covered in tissue tape and then added ink to the edges. I took some distress paints (black soot and picket fence) and put some of each on my craft mat before placing an MDF heart into them to create a bit of marbling. The butterfly is made from a foil sheet I had stuck to card and embossed with a butterfly embossing folder. Once embossed I cut out the large butterfly and then grabbed my alcohol inks to colour it. Once dry I added a little black archival around the edges.

Summer Heat

There seems a little irony here - it is pouring with rain outside and my project is about summer heat! So I am back on my PC after my little operation on Friday - moving slowly and slightly uncomfortable but not too bad. (It was nothing serious by the way...). So yesterday I tried to craft in 15 minute goes and this card is what I came up with....

(Edit.... I may have mislead, it took me longer than 15 mins... Just had to work for 15 , then stop and come back to it etc...)

I would like to play along at:
Craft Stamper - any 2014 technique - this being a combination of : Embossing on Adhesive Sheets - Birgit Koopsen - P67 - September issue and  Colourful Canvass - Annette De Clerk - P20 - June issue.
Sugar Creek Hollow -  Summer Sunshine (Reds, Oranges and Yellows)
Our Creative Corner -  Summertime
Craft Room Challenge - Summer Garden

Time Flies

The fabulous (and very kind) Chris has chosen the latest challenge at A Vintage Journey - Time Flies. I may have gone a little left field with this one!

I have an interest in all things cosmological and could not get an image out of my head of the universe and what we see is the passage of time as we look out to space. However I struggled to convey this as well as I hoped and the final result is, well, half there. One day I might come back to it - so although a little disappointed with this I had done so many versions I decided it was time to leave it be.

My background is the reverse of one of Tim's papers with some clocks stamped and some added inking for depth. I then stencilled through a TCW stencil and extended the lines with a black and white pen. To add the duality of the present moment I stamped my Clarity 'today' words onto some more Tim paper and stuck it to chipboard. Once dry I sanded and inked the edges and added glossy accents.
My wings are a Tim die and the clocks from Heartfelt creations. I embossed the background card with Tim's texture fade.
Do hop over to see what the rest of the Design team have come up with this time.

Thanks, as always, for looking.

Don't forget your toothbrush

Now I am sure this one has been done a hundred times before but the Valise Bigz die is new to me! I wanted to make a little 3D case out of it.

It is all cut out of kraft card including all the panels to join the three closed sides which are covered with vintage photo DP. I then cut all the pieces again in some Tim Holtz papers and inked up the edges and straps etc.
Add some tickets, a map for the journey (Tim Holtz stamps) and some other ephemera and here is my little case for Frilly and Funkie's Vintage Travel challenge.

The front....
The back - with my Nikki luggage label....

Wishing all those who are about to go on holiday a wonderful time!

Wish you were here

Wish you were here is today's new challenge at Try it on Tuesday. Do hop over and see the fab creations of the rest of the team.
I kept this one quite simple - a tag that was covered in various distress paints, a little stencilling of my hearts, some stamped images of the Eiffel tower, Fleur de Lys and hashtag phrase - finished off with the fab bottle die cut (a gift from Chris Warner - so no idea what it is!)

This is the first of two entries into Frilly and Funkie - Vintage Travel.

Journal page for fun

I keep saying I am going to use my journal so here is my second page! I had already done a background a while ago and I got home from a slightly stressful day last night and decided to just play to relax a little! I confess no logic, no meaning and no plan - just whatever was on my desk!

What I had in mind was Brenda Brown's scrappy journal page she shared this week at Paper Artsy - she is so good at collage and layouts! So I may as well go into the draw today at Paper Artsy!

Hoping for a serener day - hope yours is too. (Although just spent half an hour cleaning up after my cat - LOL - I do love her though!)
