New stamps - Christmas with PaperArtsy / Sara Naumann

I am sharing some ideas over at PaperArtsy this evening using the new stamps from Sara Naumann. I have also used some of the new colours of Fresco Finish Acrylics creating my background.

There are also a couple of quick videos demonstrating the background creation  (using a gelli plate) and also two tone image stamping.

Getting festive with Tim Holtz Worn Wallpaper and Festive Overlays

Tim Holtz Festive Overlay stamp set and Christmas Worn Wallpaper
Is it too early for Christmas cards? Sorry!
We have a new challenge today at A Vintage Journey with the theme of Paper Stash - our host is Sandy and this is what she says...

I am sure we all have them, those endless bits of beautiful scrapbook papers we have hoarded over the years. Create a project of any kind using them in creative ways in our preferred vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk styles.

I have started my cards using some new products from Tim Holtz - Festive Overlays stamp set and the Christmas Worn Wallpaper collection. I love the overlay idea - did I hear Tim Holtz say it was Paula Cheney's idea? A good one, whoever it was!

The cards above are A6 size. I was on a roll so made some 4x4 inch and A7 too!

I am back at AVJ later in the month for our Creative Cardmaking post - where I am using the same stamps but lots more texture and ink!

It's Tag Friday at AVJ

Hello! It is time for Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey. It only happens a few times a year when we have a 5th Friday in the month and we do love our Anything Goes Tag Projects!
I decided to create some Christmas themed tags and make them into Christmas cards.

This first tag started with a distress ink background before adding versamark through Tim Holtz Snowflakes layering stencil. I then added Mica powder to highlight the flakes and sealed with spray fixative. I die cut some Tim Holtz snowflakes (Bigz - Layering Snowflakes) added silver paint and sprinkled some embossing powder on top and heated.

Tag two was a bit more of an experiment! I started with clear embossing paste through That's Crafty Dinky snowflake stencil. Once dry I used green and red distress paints to create the mottled (messy?) background. I created some splatters on my craft mat with white gesso and lay the now dry tag into it.
The tree is a Tim Holtz die cut I was given (don't know what it is called!). I added copper paint followed by White embossing powder.

The little Happy Christmas tag at the bottom (see top photo) was engraved by me!! My sister engraves and personalises tags, key rings etc and has all the kit to engrave metal - so I got to play!! You can find her shop here if you are interested:

Winter Magic - A Vintage Journey

Tim Holtz Christmas Mosaic and Snowflake dies
I am so behind with my Christmas cards this year! At A Vintage Journey today we start the last challenge of 2016 and it is hosted by the fabulously creative Deb who has chosen Winter Magic for our theme. This is what she says....

For us in the northern hemisphere December brings the start of winter and for many that means freezing cold weather and Christmas. But winter is so much more than that and so we ask, how would you interpret the magic of winter? Snow, icicles, colours of blue, silver and white, the festivities of Christmas, misty winter landscapes; show us what your magical focus is for the season and in a vintage; shabby; mixed-media; art journaling; industrial or steampunk style.

I decided to incorporate two Tim Holtz Bigz dies - Mosaic and Snowflake Duo. I die cut and embossed the snowflakes and marbled various blue distress paints on my craft mat before swooshing them through it. With the leftover paint I did the same with a piece of card for my base panel. A little brushed pewter was smeared over the embossed areas and once dry I highlighted further with a white oil pastel.

I finished the base panel with the remainder of the metallic colour and filled in the gaps with iced spruce distress stain.

I die cut the mosaic panel and measured the card to fit over my base. I then sprayed with distress sprays and stamped with an old snowflake stamp. My greeting, some matt and layering and some little white snowflakes finished my card.

Extreme Masking on an ATC !!!

Addicted to Art - extreme masking - ATC
Hi everyone... so we enter Christmas week, I hope you are all looking forward to Christmas day and have lovely things planned. (If not - as it isn't great for everyone - it is just a day and normality will soon return!!)

Over at A Vintage Journey it is time for one of our Destination Inspiration posts, where 4 people each chose either a colour, a substrate, a technique or a product. Now sometimes when they come together they are a bit of challenge and this one was for me!
Love the technique and love ATC's - but it is quite a small surface to do this technique on!!! Anyway you can see how I came up with this over a A Vintage Journey today.

I would like to enter my starry ATC into

Say it with a snowman

A week till Christmas - are you ready? I'm not!

Here are a couple of cards I made using Tim Holtz Distress Glaze - for the details do pay a visit to the Country View Crafts project blog.
I hadn't had chance to play with the glaze before now and it didn't go well the first time - but once I worked it out all was well.

Sparkly Christmas Scene

Hello and welcome! I am really struggling to get many posts out at the moment.... my first in a couple of weeks.  It is the first of the month so time for a new challenge at the  Country View Crafts challenge blog and the theme is Create a Scene - chosen by Rachel Fisher.

I thought I would go a little sparkly on this card -  a little unusual for me! My icy / snowy foreground being gessoed card, sparkly mod podge and some glitter jewels - oh and I threw in some weathered wood distress spray too...
My background was also gessoed (is that a word and how do you spell it!) card. Once dry I sponged various blue paints on it and once dry embossed with a dotty folder. I sanded back to reveal the texture (hopefully snow-like!)
Some stamped trees, deer and a Stampin' Up wooden greeting finish my card.
I will be back at the end of the week on the Country View projects blog - hope to see you there.

Scribbling for Christmas

Hello everyone. Today I am sharing my second 'blue' themed creation for Country View challenges
This card was quite a quick one... I used Kraft core card for my base matt and to die cut the tree (Tim Holtz Festive Scribbles) and numbers. I love this stuff... cuts well, bit of sanding, add a little ink and hey presto!
I took some paper from one of Tim's paper stacks, adding a little stamping in the background and edged with vintage photo ink - and apart from the sentiment - that was about it!
Happy crafting - see you next time.

Christmas card number 1

Our September challenge at Country View Crafts is Numbers - use numbers in your project whichever way you chose. For my first creation I have made a my first Christmas card. I wanted to use my new snowflakes layering stencil.
A distress paint marbled background was created and once dry I added some ink through the stencil.
My numbers and poinsettia were painted with aged mahogany distress paint and I added some puff embossing powder to the numbers and corners of my card.
I will be back on Thursday with my second numbers creation - not Christmas this time!
Thanks for visiting

Merry Christmas everyone - Nostalgic Christmas at Country View Crafts

Happy Christmas!

It is my turn to share my second project for Country View Craft challenges for December where we are focussing on a Nostalgic Christmas.

My background was created with Iced Spruce and brushed pewter distress stains - it is far more sparkly than the photo shows. I stamped my images and got to work on my holly and berries. I had die cut the holly onto white card and began altering with various green paints before adding some crackle paint. The berries were painted red and crackle accents added.

My stars were painted with iced spruce DP before being given the crackle treatment as well. My sentiment is a remnant rub.

Once again I wish you all a wonderful day.
