12 Tags of 2015 - August - Looking on the bright side

12 Tags of 2015 - August - Addicted to Art
It has been a few months since I have played along with Tim's tags. Wasn't convinced by this one until I tried it - then I loved it!! You can see Tim's here. I was at my craft weekend when I did it so didnt have too many supplies , so went with grungepaper, distress painted umbrella man for my main feature.

Ooops bit out of focus there - sorry. Thanks for visiting.

Be an Individual

This is my second make for the current Country View Crafts challenge - to Use Something New. There is still plenty of time to join in!
I used more of my new layering stencils and also I am slowly increasing my range of distress paints and have included these too.
My Tim Holtz honeycomb and Stampin Up star stencils have been used on the background with my favourite combinations of blues and browns. The centre is an embossed and painted panel with a little treasure gold added.

Umbrella man and the stars have been dabbed with 3 colours of distress paint and spritzed with water to allow the colours to blend.

Oh I do love umbrella man!

I would like to enter

Thanks for looking today.

'Dear Santa' Cabinet Card for Compendium of Curiosities

Had fun making this one!

The latest challenge from the Curiosity Crew is to use Cabinet Card Pockets - page 38 of Tim's book. Check out the link here... where there is some fabulous inspiration from the team.

This time round the sponsors are Inspiration Emporium.

For the last challenge I had made and didn't use my Umbrella Man Father Christmas so decided my Cabinet card was going to turn into my Dear Santa Christmas list... my wish list on the inside tag..

Lots of  different techniques with umbrella santa, my robin and present all crackled. My letters are industrial stickers altered with distress paints and stains.Lots of remnant rubs, chit chat stickers, stenciling and stamping.

Not sure Santa will give me lots of Tim goodies for Christmas but I had fun making it!

Coloured Crackle for Umbrella Man

Over at Linda Ledbetter's website the latest Tim technique to try is Coloured Crackle out of Compendium of Curiosities 3.
The Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of this challenge.

I decided to give Umbrella Man another change of clothes! I do like doing this and have another one half finished on my desk. Here is the link to Sunshine and Showers where he had his first transformation.

I treated Umbrella man as per Tim's instructions on Page 53.

My tag was treated with various colours of Distress inks:

I then used Tim's rays stencil, versamark and clear embossing powder to 'seal' some of the coloured areas. I then went over the whole tag with black soot - but of course it doesnt cover the embossed areas.

I stamped my words in Stazon - I love how it came out being stamped partly over ink and partly over the embossed areas.

A few more close ups:

And that is my Rainbow Umbrella Man - hope you like him!

Sunshine and Showers

It's time for Tim's Tag for July. Unfortunately I don't have the dies he used so a little improvisation was needed. I did create a little story around this but it sounds silly now! To summarise; umbrella man (in his wellies) goes for a walk (with is good friend the blue tit) in the sunshine and showers.

A few more piccies:

You can see Tim's wonderful tag here.
