It's Never too late...

Dina Wakley Funky Silhouettes Journal Page by Nikki Acton
Been playing in my journal in a Dina Wakley style - with her Funky Silhouettes stencil, washi tape and collage words.
Still working on the white space!

Interesting Faces Journal Page

Dina Wakley Interesting Faces Journal Page by Nikki Acton
In my attempt to add more colour to my work I have been drawn to Dina Wakley's style - although I am yet to manage to leave some white space!

On this journal page I used new Dina Wakley stamps - Interesting Faces. Lots of layers of paint, some book page hearts and Dina's new Collage Words too. I used PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylics, scribble sticks and black and white journal pens.

New PaperArtsy / Seth Apter paints and quirky Hot Picks

Hi everyone. Today I am over at PaperArtsy with a rather quirky creation using an oldish Hot Picks stamp set and the new paints from Seth Apter / PaperArtsy.

Frantage Embossed Stardust die on crackled black and white tag
Hi everyone. Today I am sharing this tag at A Vintage Journey. It is the first Monday of the month so we start our monthly Destination Inspiration posts.
Do head on over to see what my travel bag consisted off and how I used it!

New Sara Naumann stamps - Craft Stamper Take it Make it

New Sara Naumann PaperArtsy stamps - by Nikki Acton
Hello! Today see's the start of the February Take It Make It challenge on the Craft Stamper blog.
The sponsor this month is Darkroom Door.

For my inspiration piece I decided to use the new Sara Naumann stamps (PaperArtsy) released a week or so ago. I was lucky to receive these early for the launch - and made quite a few designs for the release.

You can see my post at PaperArtsy - 28th January - or on my blog here.

I am back on Monday with the first Destination Inspiration post for February at A Vintage Journey - it is a lot darker than this one - but maybe one of the few darker pieces I do this year as I have decided it is the year of COLOUR!

Embossed canvas

Embossed layers canvas by Nikki Acton
Hello everyone! A new challenge starts today at A Vintage Journey and we are 'Melting It'!
Julia is out host and says...
Get out the UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel), beeswax, encaustic wax, embossing powders or good old wax crayons and a heat tool and get melting to create something in a vintage; shabby; mixed media; art journalling; industrial, timeworn or steampunk style!

I took this 4 inch (previously used) canvas and applied some Grunge Paste to cover the previous contents and also to provide some texture. I applied various Dina Wakley paints to make my background and then added versamark and embossed with clear powder.
I repeated this and while the second layer was still warm sprinkled some purple and sparkly red embossing powder too. I didn't realise my purple wasn't really purple but went with it and continued adding embossed layers until I was happy with the result!
The edges and base star are embossed with Frantage (Aged Black).

Never easy to capture these effects on camera but hopefully you can some of the layers here!
