Today we see the start of a new challenge at A Vintage Journey - Your Heart's Desire. Our host is the lovely Annie and here is what she says...
Since February is the month of love, include hearts as the main focus of your project. Just be sure your design is in keeping with our vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk styles we prefer.
For my project I have incorporated some 2019 Tim Holtz new releases - the Faceted Heart and Large Funkie Florals dies. I used Metallic Kraft core cardstcock in red and black. The base layer has been embossed and sanded to highlight the texture, the die cut elements also given some sanding.
I couldnt resist also introducing some crackle - the central panel included Deco Art Crackle paste with Aged Mahogony Distress Paint added, a few spatters with gesso were added too.
It's good to be back - I haven't blogged in a while! As always do head over to A Vintage Journey for lots more inspiration.

Oh Nikki this is absolutely delightful. I adore the whole construction of this fabulous piece with gorgeous colours and wonderful textures. Your clever design is brilliantly pulled together with the leaves on the two corners of the panels and the faceted heart is beautiful and adds great dimension. Love it xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning panel Nikki x I love the colours and all the layered elements with various textures. I was not sure about the 3D heart but it looks so cute sitting there xx The funky florals look great too xx

Oh Nikki, this is one of those 'be still my beating hearts' projects Nikki, it is stunning - the red, the layering, the gorgeous heart. I just love it all! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful combination of colour Nikki almost oriental in design. Love those sanded areas giving it the look of age with a stronger story to tell.. Amazing creation.

Such a clever use of that fabulous faceted heart Nikki and such a super colour!! I am not usually a fan of red, but this shabby dark red is just perfect! Such a clever lay out too, love it!!!
ReplyDeleteYour faceted heart looks so cool, Nikki - the gleam of the metal showing through at the edges is so effective, and I love the variation of hues of red you've created from layer to layer, from the dark grungy passionate depths to the most delicate of watercolour pinks. Fabulous!

This is amazing Nikki, the sanded elements add the perfect touch of grunge along with the crackle and love it all juxtaposed against the framed watercoloured script! Thanks so much for sharing it, Deb xo
