Heavy Metal

Happy Friday everyone! Today we launch a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and the theme this time is chosen by the wonderful Terry. She has chosen 'Heavy Metal' - to use any metallic product - be it foil tape, metal embellishments or paints and sprays in your Tim Holtz inspired creation.

I adore how Tim has shown us to use foil tape sheets in a variety of ways and have combined the use of alcohol inks and distress paints on my embossed foil to create this little piece. The frame was cut using his postage stamp and rectangle and then embossed. I then partly coloured randomly with black soot distress paint and once dry added my alcohol ink to the other areas. I also lightly sanded the surface to reveal a bit more metal.

My flowers were created in a similar way using a combination of Tim's tattered florals die and stampin up punches to create my layers. They were shaped and a stained pearl added to the centre.

For my background I embossed a piece of black card and then lightly inked over with a blue, chalk ink pad. I then took one of Tim's ideology pieces and coloured it in the same way as the metal foil before adding a remnant rub to some plain foil tape.

I used some glue gel to create a little space between my frame and base card to create a shadow box effect and also to add the flowers as I wanted to create additional dimension.

I hope you like it - do pay a visit to A Vintage Journey where you will find heaps more inspiration from the team.

I would like to enter this into:
