Crazy Cat Time

Hello everyone, just stopping by to share my first Crazy Cat creation. I fear I may be using these creatures quite a bit!

I thought I would join in at Simon Says Stamp (Monday challenge) where the theme is Ray of Sunshine and over at Frilly and Funkie we are embossing. 

I inked mustard seed ink through the rays stencil, then stamped my greeting and cat in archival black. I then replaced the stencil and added versamark over the yellow before embossing with clear powder. This then allowed me to colour the rest of the card with scattered straw and fired brick inks.

I used oval dies to create my cuts in the border before mounting on the blue embossed layer.

I stamped and cut another crazy bird and used my water brush to colour before edging with a darker blue ink.

Textured Background Card

Just a short post today to share a card I have made for the new challenge today at Country View Crafts. Sue has chosen the theme and it's a good one - to make your own background.

My background started with some torn book pages stuck to some card with gesso. Once dry I added some archival ink through a layering stencil followed by some texture paste through a  different stencil. Once dry I used various blue / purple distress paints and a baby wipe to add colour. 

I cut the background piece to size, distressed the edges and added a little more colour to highlight. 

A few flowers and the sentiment completed my card.

This is a great challenge to play along with - so much scope to be creative! Be back at the end of the month with another project for this theme. No idea what it will be yet though!

Tag Friday - Tim Holtz Punches

 

It's time for a Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey where the Creative Guides each share a tag they have created. 

I was in a bit of a rush (and short of ideas!) so I had a peek in my scraps box and found some tags leftover from playing or mop ups of craft sheet. I took two of these and used the mixed media framelits to layer them and provide depth. 

With some other scraps I used Tim Holtz punches to punch some flowers, leaves and twigs. Of course once I got going I needed to add a little colour here and there to ensure some harmony and balance, but overall quite a quick tag.

New Year Goals - Do 12 Tags - Tick!

I made four goals for 2016.... not really a fan of resolutions, they last for a few weeks and then fade for me, so mine were more intentions! 

1. Learn to say no sometimes ---- errrr not acheived yet

2. Eat less sugar------ errrr not going well

3. Exercise more ------ doing well so far

4. Do my Tim tags ------ YAY January done and here we are.

Tim used the chalkboard technique but I had my new Twisted Citron distress ink pad sitting in front of me crying out to be used, so I went a little off piste. I also didn't have the stamp Tim used so I brought out a Crazy Bird as I fear they may end up at the back of the stamp drawer when I get my inky hands on those Crazy Cats. I did use the industrial technique and followed a similar composition to the original (here).

Mini Burlap Panels - without the burlap

Hi there!
Today is my turn to share a project for Country View Crafts on the current challenge theme - Be Inspired by Bottles. If you missed my first project you can see it here.

For this one I used a little burlap panel that I had used and didn't like. I removed all the burlap to reveal the wooden structure underneath... this is small just 9cm x 7cm.

As I had removed all the staples the surface was a bit rough so I smoothly added some texture paste..

Once dry I painted it all with gesso and added tissue tape..

At this point I also added a little string on the back to hang it...

I felt my tissue tape was a bit bold so I dry brushed gesso to knock it back a little.. 

I cut a little piece of patterned paper to fit in the centre and added vintage photo ink around the edges of this and the frame itself..

I took one of Tim Holtz glass vials (the tiny one) and added some flowers - they are tiny too, about 8mm diameter. Both were secured with glossy accents.
