My Crafting Journey with A Vintage Journey

MDF Tag with Tim Holtz Globe die and ephemera
Hi everyone. We have a new challenge today at A Vintage Journey - hosted by the blog owner Brenda. The topic is 'Let's Celebrate the Journey'. Here is her description:
Join the journey for our Birthday challenge. Include the word or any images that depict a journey or even something that shows a creative journey you are on. Please tell us how your project fits the theme in your blog post and remember to create in one of our preferred styles of vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.

I decided to celebrate my crafting journey by including lots of my favourite tecniques and products! So my tag includes lots of texture, lots of layers. It is blues and browns and mostly features Tim Holtz products - stencils, texture paste. ephemera, Distress Inks and paints, word chips!

I felt a little nostalgic so decided to go back and look at some of the other projects I had done for AVJ since I joined in May 2014 - nearly 5 years ago!!! Here are a few of the most popular:

All about Texture - tags featuring Tim Holtz stamps and stencils
2014 - a tag trio - original post here

Tim Holtz inspired tags for A Vintage Journey
2015 - more tags! - original post here

Abstract Journal Page
2017 - My abstract obsession and a bit of journalling - original post here

Tim Holtz inpspired canvas
2017 - layered canvas - original post here

I hope you like my tag and little bit of reflection! Do visit AVJ where there is heaps of inspiration for this challenge - we would love to see your interpretation on Celebrating the Journey.

As this is a bit of a reflective post and my tag has a vintage feel I would like to join in the challenge at Simon Says Stamp (Monday) where the theme is Past Times / Vintage.

  1. Oh my Nikki what a wonderful reflective post showcasing your amazing pieces of work and talent. Your tag is delightful in those gorgeous shades of blues and browns and the brilliant design reflects the journey you and we have been on. What an incredible five years we’ve had travelling together in more ways than one, sharing the creative journey as well as those we’ve had in the car lol. Thank you for all your help, support and thoughtfulness over the years and for being a creator, a mentor and brilliant techie advisor as well as the fabulous artist you are. Huge hugs xxx

The heart against the world die is such a clever touch and I am really intrigued by that wrapped element at the bottom of the tag....

  4. So lovely to see some past AVJ projects as well as your truly spectacular birthday celebration. The colours, of course, appeal to me hugely - and the layering of the heart over the globe is a perfect way to represent the joys of this Vintage Journey together. I lovely the textures in the background and it all just works beautifully as a whole. Happy AVJ Birthday! It's an honour and a delight to travel with you.
