It's Tag Friday and an early Father's Day card

It is Tag Friday over at A Vintage Journey which means we share any Tim influenced tag. Mine started as a tag but became a tag card. I am busy making some Father's Day cards for a local project I am doing and this seemed to tie the two things together.

I took a tag and tea dye and stormy sky distress paints and marbled them on the surface. I added some stars stencilling with distress inks and a few splatters. As I have been short of time recently I have been raiding my - half finished projects box. The clock and 'Dad' lettering were cut from previously textured card (handy!). I added a little paint as appropriate and a touch of treasure gold to highlight.

I am have a glossy accents phase and have been making embellishments using it. I am sort of making a masterboard, cutting out shapes and then adding glossy accents. So the stars were made this way... 

I glued some black and white paper to greyboard. I added a wash of paint so it remained translucent, added a few black lines with an old credit card and black paint and when dry splattered with white paint. Once dry I cut them out and added my accents.

I mounted my tag on some newsprint paper, edged with a little vintage photo and then onto a kraft card base.

Sunset in the Cape

Hi everyone. Firstly huge apologies for being absent from blogger for the last couple of weeks and not visiting your blogs. Life has got somewhat chaotic with various things and I have been rushing off my little size 4 feet! I hope to be back to my normal daily blogger routine soon.

Fortunately I was a little ahead with some of my DT makes so here is one today......

This is my second creation for the Country View Crafts challenge blog this month and another scrapbook page from my South Africa trip. You can find the first page here. The theme for the month is Simply Scenic.

I dry brushed gesso onto a coloured 12x12 sheet before adding some mesh and cheese cloth. I did some random stamping and paint spattering too.

I added some sand texture paste and when all was dry added some paint over the various textures.

Still loads of time to play along at Country View Crafts this month!

Wood effects with paint

South Africa memories

A new challenge starts today at Country View Crafts and the theme is 'Something Scenic'. I decided to use some photographs from my visit to South Africa earlier in the year to do a little scrapbooking. I am still a novice at this and I admit this page took me ages!

I started by dry brushing with gesso and adding texture paste to my page and splattering some paint around.  I added some framework die cuts which I coloured to match the other paint. I painted some cheesecloth to match the background page and added some Golden glass bead gel and some little odd shaped beads. The beads were red so I spent ages painting them white!

My 2015 lettering is made from air dry clay and then painted. I added some secret journalling on a tag ( as my handwriting is so dreadful, I didn't want it on show).

The photograph is of me and was taken by Kevin, my friend's son, who I went to see a wonderful sunset with one evening. I have another page to share later in the month.

Spring Colours

Time for a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey today and our theme is Spring Flowers - chosen by Astrid. 

I created this little wall panel using a number of Tim Holtz dies and distress inks, sprays and paints.

I started with some card which I randomly spritzed with yellow and blue distress ink sprays. Once dry I stencilled clear texture paste through the latticework stencil. Again when dry more colours were added to get enough contrast to the foreground.

I cut the ornate frame, a butterfly from Butterfly Duo and some sprigs and applied various inks to them. The flower was created using Tattered florals - made with previously wet and scrunched white card. Once put together I spritzed with pumice stone distress spray and let dry, Then I added some crackle paste and let it dry before finally spritzing with weathered wood distress spray.

I decided to mount on some corrugated cardboard with I dry brushed with blue and green distress paint.
